Questions-pg. 832

1. The families must obey strict rules to avoid discovery. Which rules ould be the hardest for you to follow? The rules that would be the hardest thing to follow would be the no talking thing from 9 to 6 o’clock. Then the no using the washroom from sertain hours to sertain hours.

Why? i think this because I’m a talker so I can’t be quite. Then I always have to use the washroom.
2. In scene 1, what does Mr.Frank find in the secret rooms?
In scene 1, the things Mr. Frank finds in the secret rooms are things left behind by the people that were hiding. He found a white glove that belonged to Anne. He also found the scarf that Anne made him for Hanukkah.

B. How are these objects connected with the rest of the act?
These objects are connected with the rest of the act becausee they were given in a scene out of the act. They had some type of symbolic meaning.

3. What special meaning does Hanukkah have for the families?

The meaning that Hanukkah that is special is that Hanukkah means that they are free and can celebrate like when they were back before the war. It meant families coming together in the good times and bad times.

The present show that Anne is a loving person that she cares. It show’s that even in the worse conditions she finds hope and spreads it.

C. Why did the others react with enthusiam to their presents?

I think that the others acted with enthusiam to her gifts for different reasons for example in my piont of view some where being nice, while others actually enjoyed their gifts.

4. With a partner, discuss Mr.Frank statement, “The are..no locks that anyonr can put on our mind.” How does Anne prove this true?

Anne true’s this statement because in her diary she writes that she still thinks that there are good people in this world. Through all that she was gone through she believes that there are good people. She also finds love in the situtation that she’s in. most people would of given up with their lives she made the most of it.

5. What is the histrical cause that forces the Franks to go into hiding?

The historical reason in why the Franks went in to hiding was that the Nazi’s were killing any Jews or what they considered the “enemies of the state.”

B. What affects does this situation have on their daily lives?

The affect that this situation has on their daily lives is that they can’t go out so there stuck in between walls. Then the girls and Peter can’t go back to school, they won’t see their friends anymore. For the grown-ups they had to be mature and not show their fear. It affected them in many different ways.
6. In scene 2, Anne and Peter discuss the Star of David on their clothes. A. what affects do the Nazis intend the wearing of the stars to have on the Jews?

I think that the effect that the Star of David had on the Jews that the Nazis’ intended was to make them feel as a minority. The star was to represent the lower class that they supposembly were.

B. What background information about the war and the Nazis’ treatment of the Jews helps you to link this cause with its intened effects? The bakground information that helps me link this cause to its affect would be the consentration camps. The forced labor that they had, then the worse one’s the extermination camps.

7. Dialoue: Reveals character and relationshiops: for example when Anne and Peter have those convensertions how the matured. this shows that Peter has changed his point of view of Anne. then this also shows that Anne is intrested in hearing about how she has changed not from the out-side but i the inside.

Advances the action of the plot: When Mr.Dussel wants to go to answer the phone in the offic thinking its the thieft asking for more money. Mr. Frank refuses to answer because then if its not the theift then they will find out there hiding.

Develops the conflict: One thing that developes a conflict is when Mr.Frank finds out that Mr.Van Dan is the one stealing all the food. this brings conflic because every one starts to take a side.

1.what would do you like best about Anne Frank?
How would you like haavng her as a friend?
I think that I would of liked having a frined like Anne. What I like best about Anne is her persenality. I like how she’s out-spoken and makes the most of everything.

2.what disturbing news does Mr. Krarler brign on New Years Day?
The disturbing new that Mr.Krarler brings on New Years Day is that some one suspects that the Franks didn’t go to New Zeleand and that they are hiding.

The time spam was 1943-1945.

B. how have the characters changed since the end of Act I? the characters have changed because we see that Anne and Peter talk more to each other now. Mr. and Mrs. Frank seem more aware of things and are more cossies. Then Van Dan’s are kind of the same but Mr.Van Dan becomes more greety.

C. how do you know that Anne has changed?
We know tha Anne has changed because accurding to Peter she becomes more quiete. Then she becomes intrested in Peter. We also know that she has changes because she think back on how she treated her mother. She reflets on how bad she was to her.

4.how did Anne believe that “…….in spite of everything….people are really good at heart?”
I think that Anne believe this because she saw the good in Miep and Mr. Krarler. She saw how they risked their own lives to hide them and how they would bring them news and stufft hey need. She believed in that because she knew her dad was a good person for taking in Mr. Dussel. She saw the good side of things which made her believe that people where goo at heart.

B. what odes Mr.Frank mean when he says “She puts me to shame”?
what Mr.Frank means when he said that she puts him throught shame is that even she had more hope of things getting better than he did. She had hope in the end even things seem like theuy weren’t going to get any beter she had hope, he didn’t have much or any hope which got him to say that she put him trough shame.

5. for each if the following events, identify one cause and one effect: (a)Mr. Van Dan decision too steal food.
I think that a cause that lead Mr. Van Daan to steal food is that he was hungry. In the diary it disribes that he is an offly large guy. With this discribetion we can tell that he is fat. Since he was hungry he stold the food to stop hearing his stomach grumble for food. The effect that this caused was that the people were taking sides and that they were going to start spliting everuthing inclluding the food equally.

(b) Mrs. Frank change of heart about wanting the Van Daans to leave. What may have caused Mrs.Frank to change her mind of kicking out the Van Daan at heart I think was how Anne reacted. She saw that it was one mistake that the father did, that this shouldn’t harm their relationship. The effect of this would be that they got more close to each other they saw that this was the real big arrgument that they had ever had in the two years that they were living in.

6. what are some possible causes of Mrs. Van Daan’s attitude towards Anne’s and Peter’s relationship?
Some cause of Mrs. Van Daans’ attitude towards the relationshio between Anne and Peter is that their both young and don’ t possimbly want them to do something they wil regret. Since their both young they don’t want to deal with things like them kissing or hugging I think that’s why Mrs.Van Daan had the attutide that she had about there relationship.

7. living in close quarters has multiple effects on residents of the “Secret Annex.” List three effects that result from this sigle cause.
Three ways that they have been affected is that one they bairly had info money to buy food. Two that there where many people living in a one room apartment or attic. The third way that they have been affected is that both Anne, Peter and Margot have lost there childhood. They can’t go back and run around, play games with their frineds anymore.

8. Miep:Brings flowers and cake to the attic rooms: to cheer up the place.
Mr. Van Daan: steals the food.:he still felt hungry since his a big guy.
Peter Van Daan: he tlks more to Anne: he thinks she has matured more and is a bit more quiete.

9. what possible motivations might an informer have for teling the authorities about the famillies in hiding?
I think that the motivation for someone to tell the authorities that a families is in hiding would be to gain something. For example if he’s a criminal then he may reseave less years or things like that.

Adam"s Diary

WEDNSDAY-She was as far by the most curious creature a live she always wondered about everything. She was always wants to know why and what for everthing.Sometimes i hide from her because she's so curious what if i don't have the answers what would she think of me.I'v been wondering thinking to my self why she always wants company. Doesn't she understand that in the loniless is when genius get there great idea's.I think that she's just a curuious one. The animals like her and she likes them. She names everything, when she see's it she has a name for it.It never a curred to me that she told me her name. I don't know why she did it, but it amazed me how she felt when I seemed uncaring. She's just another creature here. Now it is night and she loves how the "moon," like she called it ,comes back almost every night. Its funny to watch someone that's always so curuois.

FRIDAY-She does the weirds things. Some how she has this way of making the things so likeable and loveable. Like I never notice the difference betweeen the lion and the tiger. She always went away for some time at the being when I would avoid her. Today i saw her in that rock where she sits at when she's sad. She didn't see me but I saw her.

The Outcasts of Poker Flat

If you had to blame someone or something for the outcasts' deaths,who/what would you blame and blame why?
-Uncle Billy
-citizens of Poker Flat
-bad luck
-outcasts

In my point of view I think I would blame the citizens of Poker Flat. I think if they didn't feel that they were bigger and better than everyone then these people might of still been with us. In my point of view people are supposed to be given second chance's. Once a person that has done bad or has lived the wrong way see that people really care about them then they will show an effort. I think that if these people weren't kicked out of there own then they would of never died. In my eyes people that have done things that are bad in some points deserve a second chance. For example Mr.Oakhurst didn't seem like a bad guy. He cared about them because we was looking out for there well being. The ladies didn't seem as bad as they we were told they were. They actually had that motherly sense, they cared for the girl. Mother Ship ton's died in order for Penny would live. They knew they lived the wrong way and almost showed redemption. For example the ladies treated Penny very good, Mr.Oakhurts was like the daddy of all the little chicks. He looked out for all of them. The only one that didn't seem to cope or get it was Uncle Billy. He ran away with the supplies and horse's. i would blame the citizens of Poker Flat. In my point of view they were the one's that should be blamed because if they weren't kicked out the town they would of have still lived.

Kate Chopin

The Story of an Hour : in my point of view the women to me is understandable. if the men treated her bad an have total control over her then she had the right to be happy. at the end when she died i was shocked because the man came back alive and it said that they had checked twice to break the news to her. i taught that she was going to be free and i saw how bad she wanted her freedom. i liked how the author always has a twist in the end. like who would of taught that the lady was going to die of knowing that her husband wasn't dead. also who would of known she was going to be happy when he supposedly died. the story was okay but i really didn't like it. i don't know why it was interning but its not my type of favorite story.

The Blind Man : this story is a very political story in my point of view. when the story described the things and how they were hap ping the things reminded me of how the mistreat the incapacitate in Mexico (yet no offence to Mexico.) i could see how the people would just go on with there lives and not even notice this blind man. when the rich guy got runed-over everyone stopped and went to help him. this shows that if you have money and are important you will get attention. then what about all those poor people that have to straggle just to make it out one day. this isn't fair and i loved how she used a blind humbled man to show this from my point of view. i really liked this story because it talked about what we go on with in our own daily lives. this happens so quick that sometimes were not even aware of it. the way she goes about telling the reader the difference between a poor blind man and a rich man is amazing. she brings out the daily truth newspapers and TV try to hide from us when they talk about people that are different from us.

Desiree's Baby : Desiree's baby talks about topic that has been in history racism. the taught of you being superior than the other person just because of the color of your skin is so sad. how back then they were treated. Desiree's husband is a man with great power but also abuses it. he miss treats them just because of the color of there skin. no one knows that in him the same blood run in which those he miss treats. the topic is very interesting and has great details about how the act. i was shocked at the end when it was him and not her that had the blood of those of colored people. i never understood why be like this i mean we all are human and we all have feeling and emotions. then again this was a time of ignorance and superiority. i think that the author has a good point of view and gets here point trough.
